Al-Hamza, one of the founders of the group told i24news that he and his
friends became the “voice of the suffering of the city” after they
became frustrated that internet searches for their hometown would only
produce IS propaganda, which in turn would be used by the international
media to portray the conflict. To combat this, the group of around 70
activists started to publish photos and videos secretly filmed inside
the city, taking a huge personal risk to document life under IS.
