The
Bayer buyout of Monsanto is almost complete and could be announced
today, according to reports from Reuters and others. The deal is said to
be worth $65 billion. A merger would combine Monsanto, known for
genetically modified crop seeds, and Bayer, a German maker of pesticides
as well as aspirin. Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf says he will not
resign. He told The Street's Jim Cramer that he does hold himself
accountable for the alleged abusive account opening practices at the
company. Wells Fargo ( ) was fined $185 million by the Consumer
Financial Protection Bureau for opening the accounts that were not
authorized by customers to meet sales goals. Samsung is struggling to
replace all of the recalled Galaxy Note 7 phones. It's trying to replace
some of the 2.5 million smartphones it has recalled in 10 countries,
citing fire prone batteries. Samsung is telling customers to cap their
battery charges at 60%.
