The
Home Secretary Amber Rudd has said her department is "looking closely"
at introducing work permits for EU citizens as a means of controlling
immigration post-Brexit. Speaking on the Andrew Marr programme, Ms Rudd
said she believed the work permit system "certainly has value", but
stressed that she "isn't ruling anything out at the moment." However,
she did say she had discounted the points system "because it simply
doesn't work." Speaking to Andrew Marr, the Home Secretary said her main
priority was ensuring that the people who come here from across the
world "really add value to the economy."
