정부 "일본 정부. 의회지도자 야스쿠니 공물.참배 깊은 우려"
Korea has responded to the Monday visit by Japanese lawmakers to the controversial Yasukuni Shrine.
Seoul's
Foreign Ministry issued a statement Tuesday,... saying the government
expresses "deep concern and disappointment" about the visit by the group
of cabinet members and lawmakers who paid tribute at the shrine,...
which honors Japan's war dead, including 14 Class-A war criminals.
Seoul
urged them to demonstrate "sincere remorse for Japan’s past wrongdoing"
to gain the trust of Japan's neighbors and the world.
The visit came a day after Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a ritual offering to the shrine.
Abe
has only visited the shrine once since taking office to avoid inciting
tensions with China and Korea, both of which regard it as a symbol of
Japan's past militarism.
More Japanese lawmakers are reportedly
slated to visit,... during the shrine's annual autumn festival, which
runs through Thursday.
