This
week, FRANCE 24 delves into the extraordinary history of the stunning
Montmartre neighbourhood in Paris. Located in the north of the French
capital, it only became part of the city in the 1860s. Before then, it
was covered in fields and some 30 windmills. Today, tourists flock to
the iconic church that sits at its summit, the Sacred Heart Basilica.
But behind the tourist trail lies a story of violence, vice and
revolution.
