Tip TV politics - There is no evidence that Trump would Temper himself - Nina Schik: Tip TV Finance

Published on Nov 14, 2016
In today’s Tip TV politics segment, we have Nina Schik, Independent EU policy expert and political commentator discuss her take on the universal question - Will Trump adopt a calm demeanor upon entering the White House.

Markets have taken heart from Trump’s restrained victory speech. However, Schik warns, “there is no evidence that Trump will temper himself”.

The other question that is being raised is whether Trump will deliver his promises. Schik believes eventually people would realize ‘they have been trumped by Trump’. This is because most of his policies - fiscal spending are not going to help the most deprived.

However, Schik does point out that Trump has been a consistent economic nationalist and has significant power unlike Obama, who was held hostage by the House and the Senate.

Best line from Trump - What have you got to lose? - Alex Deane

In this segment, we also have Alex Deane, Managing Director, Public Affairs at FTI Consulting discuss the reasons which led to Trump victory. He says the line that won Trump the Election was the one he often used - What have you got to lose? - By voting for me.
Deane adds that Trump was seen winning the elections as per online polls… This is similar to the Brexit experience, he adds.

He also talks about the reasons for the surge in the anti establishment sentiment in the US and across the world… one of which is the zero interest rate policy adopted by the major central banks across the globe.

Watch the segment to know if Trump could enter into a trade with China and if UK could benefit from a potential free trade deal with US
