The computers of the Army, Navy, and Air Force headquarters were hacked in the cyberattack on the defense ministry reported earlier this week... and the defense minister's computer was also a target.
Kim Hyun-bin give us the updates. The Armed Forces' main information center was infiltrated in a cyberattack that also hit the defense ministry over the summer.

The Ministry of National Defense had announced on Tuesday that some of its military computers had been hacked, but local media reports citing military sources on Wednesday said the information center was hit in the same attack.

North Korea is the prime suspect in both cases.

The Armed Forces' information center is located in Chungcheongnam-do Province, where the headquarters of the Army, Navy and Air Force are located, raising concerns that confidential information may have been compromised.

Thirty-two-hundred computers were reportedly hacked, including 700 that were also linked to the military's intranet.

The sources added that Defense Minister Han Min-koo's computer was also vulnerable to the hack.

The cyberattack occurred in early August and a massive amount of malicious code was in place by late September.

The military uses three types of servers -- internet, intranet and an operations server.

The ministry says that the internet and intranet servers were connected due to poor management and that the hackers were able to send malicious codes to both, causing military secrets to be leaked.

On Tuesday, the ministry said it had traced the IP addresses linked to the attack to China, which North Korean hackers have used in the past.

The ministry says it is in the process of determining which data was leaked and how much damage it has caused.
