US
President Donald Trump has dismissed climate change as a myth and
openly champions fossil fuels. In his first five days in office he
signed executive orders to move forward with the construction of the
Keystone XL Pipeline. If completed, that would mean pumping hundreds of
thousands of barrels of oil from tar sands in Canada across to the US
Gulf Coast. Trump promised to change US environmental strategy and it
looks like he hasn't wasted much time.
In the past, the US leader has also threatened to pull the US out of the Paris COP21 Agreement, which united almost 200 countries in the common goal of limiting global warming to 2°C from pre-industrial levels. So what can the EU do?
A programme presented by Eve Irvine.
