If
you live to 85, you currently have about a one-in-two chance of
developing Alzheimer’s – and with an ageing global population, that
means the number of people with Alzheimer’s will double every 20 years.
However, as Dr. Richard J. Hodes – Director of the National Institute on
Aging at the National Institutes of Health – explains, many researchers
are optimistic that growing understanding of genetic markers will lead
to more effective interventions.
