Despite
Democratic opposition Rex Tillerson will be the 69th Secretary of
State.Lining up almost exclusively along party lines - the Senate voted
56 to 43 to confirm Tillerson. The former CEO of Exxon Mobil has faced a
tough grilling - with many Democrats saying they needed more time to
question him on Trump's controversial executive order on immigration.SOT
SENATE MINORITY LEADER CHUCK SCHUMER "Here are some important
questions: Did he have any involvement or consultation in the
construction and drafting of the executive order? How would he answer
the outcries from countries around the world asking President Trump to
rethink this policy? //We need these answers."In the end four Democrats
joined their Republican counterparts in supporting Tillerson. Being the
Chief Diplomat is a tough job, even in the best of times. In addition
to inheriting an assertive Russia, a rising China and the quagmire in
Syria -Tillerson will now have to put out fires created by Donald
Trump's recent actions that have riled friends and foes alike.
