Korea's benchmark stock index, the KOSPI, has been hitting record highs this month,... and alongside that, a huge increase in the average total value of shares changing hands each day.
According to the Korea Exchange on Monday,... so far in May that figure stands at a daily average of five-point-nine billion U.S. dollars,... a whopping increase of 45 percent from the previous month.
And... it's the highest level in 22 months,... going back to July 2015.
Analysts attribute the surge in transactions to strong buying by foreign investors.
