The White House has been hit with yet another bombshell after President Trump reportedly asked former FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation into ex-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's alleged links to Russia.

The explosive new development comes as the White House is already trying to weather the storm created by Trump's alleged disclosure of classified information to Russian officials.
Ro Aram has the details. 

The New York Times first broke the story on Tuesday, citing a memo written by Comey immediately after a White House meeting in February, which read that President Trump told him "I hope you can let this go".

The Oval Office talks came only a day after Michael Flynn resigned as National Security Adviser for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with Russia's ambassador before Trump took office.

If confirmed, the memo would provide the strongest evidence so far that President Trump tried to influence the Justice Department and FBI investigation into links between his associates and Moscow.

The White House, however, denied the report in a statement, saying it was not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the president and the former FBI chief.

Comey was fired by Trump a week ago for what the White House called his mishandling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails. 

But, critics accused the president of trying to thwart the investigation into Russia's suspected meddling in last year's presidential election, which Comey was heading. 

In its report, The New York Times said the memo was shared with FBI officials and was part of a paper trail Comey created to document what he perceived as the president’s improper efforts to influence a continuing investigation.

The latest Russia twist came as both Democrats and Republicans pressured Trump to explain why he revealed sensitive intelligence information to Moscow's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

If what is mentioned on the Comey memo turns out to be true.... then it will pack the biggest punch so far to the Trump administration.
