And the internal feud intensifies within the president's ruling Saenuri Party.

A Saenuri heavyweight has called on the president to give up her party membership, but the party's decision-making body has rejected his words,... possibly setting the party up for a prolonged fight over the Choi scandal.

Let's now go over to the National Assembly where our Ji Myung-kil is standing by.
Myung-kil, what can you tell us?

At a press conference this morning,... Kim Moo-sung,... the former chairman of the ruling Saenuri Party... and a potential presidential candidate,...

called on President Park Geun-hye to leave the party to take responsibility for the political uproar caused by the Choi Soon-sil scandal.

The party's decision-making body,... the Supreme Council,... rebuffed Kim's remarks,... saying his comments are his own and do not represent the party.

Also at the morning meeting,... the current leader of the ruling Saenuri Party, Lee Jung-hyun, again refused to resign,... and asked party members to give him more time to deal with the sprawling corruption scandal.
His refusal prompted a member of the party's non-pro-Park faction to resign from the Supreme Council in protest.

Meanwhile, the former chairman of the main opposition party,... Moon Jae-in,... who is also a possible presidential contender,... urged the president to make a "important decision" on behalf of the people,... implying she should resign.

Moon said this would be the best way to prevent a vacuum in state affairs and prevent an unprecedented disaster.

The opposition parties continued to demand that President Park resign the presidency... and suggested they could even launch a campaign to oust her.
