North Korea - attempted missile launch fails: ARIRANG NEWS

Published on 15 Apr 2017
북, 오늘 신포 일대서 미사일 발사했지만 실패
Let's start things off with North Korea's latest provocation.

Another missile launch... a day after their grand celebrations of a key anniversary on Saturday wrapped up.

For details we connect to our Ji Myung-kil.

Myung-kil this happened early Sunday morning but it was apparently a failure.

Right Daniel.

The South Korean military says North Korea fired an unidentified type of missile from its eastern port city of Sinpo but the test failed.

The U.S. Pacific Command said the missile blew up almost immediately and South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said they were investigating for further details.

U.S. President Donald Trump is known to have been briefed about the situation but has declined to comment.

The Japanese government has said today's launch does not directly affect their security.

Pyongyang's missile launch attempt comes amid rising tensions with the U.S., which is sending an aircraft carrier strike group to the Korean Peninsula to deter potential North Korean provocations. The regime's last missile launch came less than two weeks ago on April 5th, and that was a medium-range KN-15 ballistic missile.

This morning, the head of South Korea's National Security Office, Kim Kwan-jin convened a meeting of the National Security Council to check on the security situation and assess the latest missile launch.

Experts say North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could also push the button on its sixth nuclear test at any time... as he has launched more missiles compared to his father and grandfather combined.
Daniel.
