Peter Dixon, global equities economist at Commerzbank says a ‘Canada plus plus plus’ deal is not sufficient and does not have legs. Dixon says the UK is likely to remain inside the customs union. He says elements of the Chequers plan will be accepted and elements will be pushed to one side, arguing a large element of the Chequers deal will become irrelevant if the UK remains in the customs union such as the Irish border issue.
