RUSSIA - Thousands take train from Russia to Finland to escape sanctions | Al Jazeera

With flights to Europe suspended, Russians who want to leave the country have few options. One route that is still available is the train to Finland. Around 5,000 Russians have made the journey in the last 10 days. As Al Jazeera's Paul Rhys reports from Helsinki, some do not know if they will return home.

GENEVA — The United Nations human rights office said on Tuesday that it had verified 1,335 civilian casualties in Ukraine, including 474 killed and 861 injured, since Russia’s invasion began on Feb. 24.

But the civilian toll was incomplete pending corroboration of reports, it said in a statement: “This concerns, for example, the towns of Volnovakha, Mariupol, Izium where there are allegations of hundreds of civilian casualties.”

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday there were few things more depraved than the targeting of vulnerable and defenceless people, after Ukraine accused Russia of bombing a children's hospital in the port city of Mariupol.

"There are few things more depraved than targeting the vulnerable and defenceless," Johnson said on Twitter.
