Thousands
of Venezuelans have crossed into Colombia to buy food and medicine
after five pedestrian border crossings were opened.
It is the first time in nearly a year that the border, spanning over 2,000km, has been opened on a regular basis.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had ordered the shutdown last year, blaming rampant smuggling. But it only left many in the crisis-hit nation struggling to access basic supplies.
