There
are over 80 million illegal firearms in Europe but a ban on lethal
semi-automatic weapons is being shot down by member states and the
European Parliament. Meanwhile, the EU cybercrime and police agency
Europol recently leaked hundreds of pages of analysis on terrorist
groups and their contacts online. Over a year after terrorist attacks
rocked the heart of the EU, the bloc now has a Commissioner for
Security, British national Julian King.
He speaks to FRANCE 24 about the plans to make the EU a safer place, the weapons ban and Europol leak but also about a new plan that could see a US-style pre-clearance system imposed on anyone entering the EU.
A programme presented by Eve Irvine
Produced by Isabelle Romero and Anaïs Guérard
