Ten
years after joining the European Union, Bulgaria is still the poorest
member of the bloc. EU membership has not been the magic solution to
corruption or economic problems that many Bulgarians had hoped for, and a
new president who took office this month hopes to improve relations
with Russia. We meet the country's Vice-president, Iliana Iotova, and
visit the university of food technology and OPTIX, a lens manufacturer.
