Israel's
parliament has passed a controversial law retroactively legalising
almost 4,000 settler homes built on privately-owned Palestinian land in
the occupied West Bank. Under the legislation, the Palestinian
landowners will be given financial compensation or alternative land.
Palestinian officials denounced the law, saying it legalised land theft.
