Two
years after the Wukan uprising, preparations for new elections are
underway. But the optimism that accompanied the previous poll is nowhere
to be seen. Wukan's democratically elected leaders are no longer
united. News that the local government has appointed members of the
ousted former Village Committee to key positions is causing deep unease.
Fears are growing that a crackdown is imminent. The targets - activists
who had led the uprising. As villagers weigh their future, a
corruption scandal erupts and the local government tightens its grip on
the community. Did Wukan rise up in vain?
