A woman has died after actor Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm on the set of new Western movie Rust.
Santa Fe County Sheriff's officials said Halyna Hutchins, director of photography for the movie "Rust," and director Joel Souza were shot.
Hutchins, 42, was airlifted to hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel, authorities said.
Souza, 48, was taken by ambulance to a medical centre where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries.
I’m so sad about losing Halyna. And so infuriated that this could happen on a set. She was a brilliant talent who was absolutely committed to art and to film. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/vcdFqHsGA0

This is how we lost Brandon Lee during the final days of filming for The Crow... It's a horrible loss and a shattering dose of guilt for whoever fired the weapon as well as those responsible for the maintenance of the prop. Such a terrible thing to happen.
