In Marseille, gangs fighting for territory have become more violent; setting on fire their rivals, kidnapping, torturing and killing young people to send messages to rival gangs. Most of these crimes have been happening in the Quartiers Nord, an area that according to the families of the victims, has been neglected by the state which allowed crime to proliferate. VICE gains access to the criminals operating in the area who reveal how the traffic of drugs and weapons works, as well as a young lookout and drug dealer. We then speak to Amine, whose brother was brutally murdered at 22 years old and his body was later found burned in the boot of a car.

⚡️ Police: Russian forces shell 12 cities, villages in Donetsk Oblast in past 24 hours.

The police said on May 22 that Russian attacks destroyed 58 civilian buildings, including schools, and left civilians killed and injured. The police didn’t disclose the number of casualties.
